Abstract
Iron deficiency anemia is a serious public health problem in developing countries and contributes
to reduced work productivity and increased morbidity and mortality. Despite supplementation
programs being in operation for decades, there has been no perceptible decrease in the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia. This study was conducted to understand the clinical pattern of iron
deficiency anemia and to evaluate the impact of the homoeopathic medicine, Lecithin 3x on the clinical manifestations of iron deficiency anemia and Hemoglobin (Hb) levels. A total of 13 cases were selected for the study. The diagnosis was based on the Hb%, clinical history , clinical presentation and examination findings. For the assessment of the clinical status before and after treatment, the Post treatment outcome assessment score pattern was used and the Paired t- test was used to evaluate the hypothesis. The data was statistically analysed for the efficacy of the drug and a
statistically significant increase in the p value was obtained (p value <0.02) on assessing the
hemoglobin levels at the end of 4 th week
